Art Gallery of New South Whale of a time!

Hi, I'm so excited to share that my new work ‘The little things are the big things (discarded shopping list)' has been selected as a finalist in the Sulman prize!

Huge congrats to all the other finalists and entrants, it’s a bit of a dream come true to be showing my work at the Art Gallery of New South Wales! Here’s a photo of me with the work in my studio just before loading it into my station wagon and driving it to Sydney.

I first began collecting discarded shopping lists when I was 15 and got a part-time job at a supermarket. Anonymous shopping lists read almost like poetry and can act as a portrait of the people we pass in the supermarket aisles.

Most shopping lists are written quickly and without aesthetic consideration, and it's through the act of slowly recreating them that I allow myself the time and space to appreciate these seemingly mundane everyday objects, creating a permanent record of a fleeting moment.

The Sir John Sulman Prize 2024 is on display from June 8 to September 8. For more info please click here!

In other news, I'm so pleased to donate a new little painting to the upcoming Incognito Art Show.

All money raised from the exhibition goes towards funding programs at
Studio A and We Are Studios, both organisations that support professional development for artists living with disability. The artists coming through these programs are making such phenomenal work!
The Incognito Art Show is on from July 13 to 14. For more info

Thanks so much for reading, hope you're going well and hope to see you soon!
